Nicole Semenchuk

Nicole Semenchuk is a premier investigator of 19th and early-20th century paintings and sculptures. She has thirteen years of investigative experience, eleven at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Research and Scholars Center and two at the Johns Hopkins University’s Milton S. Eisenhower Library.  Her areas of expertise include George Inness, Martin Johnson Heade, Winslow Homer, William Merritt Chase, John Singer Sargent, Georgia O’Keeffe, Marsden Hartley, the Taos School, and California artists.  In addition to cataloging in great detail the works of many artists, she answered hundreds of queries from scholars, researchers, and the general public about American art using a variety of print and online resources. She has written countless blog posts and created and edited a research newsletter that was distributed to thousands of people.  Her personable nature, attention to detail, and keen research skills combined with a broad knowledge of American art history make her an important addition the staff at FAI. Nicole Semenchuk is based in New York’s Hudson Valley region.
